Paradisus Resort - Cancun
CANCUN
It’s a well-known
story: a wise Mexican computer in 1967 chose a small, swampy finger of land
in an isolated part of the Mexican Caribbean, and pixels flashed, "Let
There Be Tourists." It happened---Cancun resort was born. Cancun, an
island shaped like a 7 with a bridge at both ends, connecting it with the
mainland, began from the ground up in 1968. When the first hotels
opened their doors in 1972, visitors began coming and haven’t stopped
since.
For some, the name Cancun conjures immediate images of sugar-fine sand, a
palette of blue sea, and flashing dollar signs. Think again! The beaches are
stunning, the water is enticing, and it does not take a lot of money to
enjoy Cancun if you just "drop in" at one of the fabulous resorts
in the hotel zone. The
shopping is great.
It’s the best of both worlds
PLAYA AND THE MAYAN RIVIERA
For years there was but one reason to go to the small village of Playa del
Carmen---the Cozumel Island ferry dock. And though thousands of people pass
through here each year on their way from or to Cozumel (a popular island 19.2km
off the Quintana Roo coast), many come just to enjoy the laid-back pleasures of
the small town, which is gaining popularity. Nature did its part by endowing the
small town with a broad beautiful beach, one of the finest in Quintana Roo.
North of Playa all the way to Cancun the beautiful beaches are being crowned
with the most gorgeous of resorts. Xpu-ha Palace, The Riu Chain, Paradisus,
Iberostar, Occidental have all set up fabulous all-inclusives here. There
is so much to do nearby including the water parks of Xel-Ha and Xcaret, the
ruins of Tulum and Chichen Itza, proximity to Cozumel Island and so much more
